How to help
Chosen Foundation – The Potter’s House began in Timisoara, Romania, in June 2000, to improve the lives of street children and children from disadvantaged families, and to share the love of Jesus Christ.
Our licensed Day Program for 25-30 children ages 7-14 includes help with homework, clothing, a hot meal, crafts, music lessons, counseling and computer training by licensed staff.
After 14, the teenagers join the Teen Assist Program and are supported until they integrate into society, have a job and a place to stay.
If you are interested in investing in the lives of a child or teenager, there are a number of ways to get involved:
- Sponsor a Child (ages 7-14) in our Day Program helps supply them with clothes, shoes, school supplies and hygiene articles. Your support will also assist the families of our children, helping them with food and counseling to help build a better family environment.
- Sponsor a Teenager (ages 15-18) has been started to support our teens who have graduated from our Day Program, by providing school supplies and counseling. As part of this program, they are required to volunteer at the Potter's House one day a week.
- Sponsor a Young Adult (ages 19 and up) provides support to our young adults who have no other resources. This support includes job training, job placement, housing assistance, counseling, and other needs as they arise, until the young adult achieves independence.
Our prayer is to find a sponsor for each child and teen, matching them with a family who is willing to support them financially, in prayer, and by writing to them. But more than this, you will be helping a young person to feel loved, valued and encouraged. We have experience of the change occurring in children when they realize that someone outside of their environment is taking care of them and considers them to be precious. Your support will make a tremendous difference in their lives.
We encourage you to send your sponsored child a personal or family photograph and a short letter of introduction. Our staff will translate your letter and deliver it to the child you support. Sponsored children typically keep their sponsors' photos and letters in their homes as treasured possessions.
As a new sponsor, you'll receive a photo, personal story and a complete sponsorship packet by mail. Thank you for being a part of a child’s or young person’s life!
